We're so glad you've dropped by Schoolhouse Gluten-Free Gourmet.

We create delicious and nourishing on-the-go foods for people who are sensitive to what goes into their bodies.

We believe the only way to make our tasty products is in small batches by hand, in a dedicated gluten-free kitchen.

And that's just what we do in our one hundred percent gluten-free kitchen in a converted schoolhouse in beautiful Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia.

Although we don't have a storefront location of our own, we look forward to meeting you and introducing you to our products at the farmers' markets and we invite you to explore our Where to Buy page in order to find one of our retail partner near you.

Feeling better never tasted so good.

We believe that you've made the first step on the journey to discovering that feeling better never tasted so good.

Co-owners Jen and Aidan, along with a small but mighty team of bakers make small batch goodies--from potato-millet bread to decadent brownies, from flaky biscuits to gooey butter tarts--by hand, and with the freshest ingredients, with an emphasis on local where possible.

You won't find us in your grocer's freezer, but you will find us at Farmers' Markets in Halifax and Lunenburg and at finer local grocery and speciality stores.  That's because we aim to provide fresh, delicious, and nutrient-packed gluten-free options to consumers at farmers' markets, independent retailers, cafes and restaurants in Nova Scotia!

Please make yourself at home as you peruse our website.

We'd absolutely love it if you chose to follow us on facebook too!

We have some exciting news to share with you—news that will make our handmade gluten-free products even more accessible to you. We are pleased to announce that beginning on Wednesday November 25th, many of our gluten-free goodies will be available at Sobeys Extra in Tantallon.

When we started Schoolhouse Gluten-Free Gourmet six years ago, we could not have imagined this opportunity. The grocery business was impenetrable to a hands-on, hand-made business like ours. We never want our products to be warehoused and shipped on big trucks to far-flung stores. But we do want them to get into the hands of as many people who need and want them as possible. And many customers have asked when they’ll be able to buy our breads, sweets and snacks at the grocery store. Sobeys has remade its Tantallon store to focus more on local, fresh products. Our goodies will share space with products from other local producers like Just Us, Terra Beata, Made with Local, Hutchinsons and Haskapa. We will stock the shelves in the store’s bakery section ourselves, by hand, with our Potato Millet Bread, our Cinnamon Raisin Bread, our brownies, cranberry dark chocolate cookies, chocolate chip espresso cookies, ginger snaps, supernova and pumpkin muffins.

We continue to make our products in small batches, by hand, at our dedicated gluten-free facility on Nova Scotia’s beautiful South Shore. We continue to distribute it ourselves, to see our products through every stage, from recipe design, to baking, to packaging, to delivering and stocking the shelves at our retail partners, or meeting our customers face to face at the farmers’ markets. Sobeys is upending the traditional grocery model in Canada with its Tantallon store, and we are so pleased to have the opportunity to be part of that positive change, and to offer our amazing, dedicated customers another source for our handmade, gluten-free products.
