SUDDEN SEAPORT MARKET CLOSURE & OUR SOLUTIONS:
First and foremost, we want to start off by letting you know that we are here for you. Having food at home is essential, especially when we’re dealing with the ongoing spread of the COVID-19 virus. As many of you know, our products are as delicious when eaten fresh as they are when frozen and thawed to enjoy when you need them the most.

The biggest update is that the Seaport Market made an unexpected call this afternoon to close their doors indefinitely / until further notice – a decision that left us wondering how we were going to get your pre-ordered products to you.

Thankfully, the Halifax Brewery Market will remain open for the time being and has graciously opened their doors to us; offering a convenient spot right in the main lobby. Stop by between 7am-1pm to collect your pre-orders/to stock up on anything that you need. You’ll see us after passing through the main gate by The Old Apothecary – we promise you won’t have any trouble finding us!

Please understand that we will not be sampling products for the time being at the market and we ask everyone to respect one another and our staff. Please remember to wash your hands when you’re out and about in public; be gentle and respectful of one another. If you’re sick, or if you have traveled in the past 14 days, we suggest staying home and sending someone to pick up your order on your behalf.

PRE-ORDERS FOR PICK-UP:
If you haven’t already placed a pre-order for pick-up tomorrow and would like to stock up/are worried we will sell out – we’re here to do what we can to help you out with that. Just send us a message on social media or email jen@schoolhouseglutenfreegourmet.com to place a pre-order. We’ll stay up as late as we need to; to ensure all orders are processed and that everyone has access to the food that they need.

It is important to note that we will continue to attend the market until large gatherings are restricted in Nova Scotia. We also have taken the necessary steps to ensure our retail partners and wholesalers were stocked up with product this week (and they will be re-stocked again next week) if you prefer to pick-up products near where you live.

If for any reason we are no longer to serve you in person at the market/if you have trouble accessing products at retail touch points – we have alternative delivery options in the case you prefer to place orders from the comfort of your own home.

ONLINE ORDERS/DELIVERY TO YOUR FRONT DOOR:
If you haven’t considered this option before, this might be the time to give it a try! If you are based within the HRM, we currently offer two dates for package delivery to your front door every week:

  • Orders placed on Monday by 3pm will arrive on Wednesday;
  • Orders placed on Wednesday by 3pm will arrive on Friday.

We offer this service within the HRM for a flat fee of only $5.00!

Outside of HRM, we also ship across Canada every Wednesday (orders due on Mondays by 3pm) for a fee that will fluctuate based on where in Canada you live. You can read more about online delivery/shipping info here.

CLOSING THOUGHTS ON COVID-19, FOOD SAFTEY MEASURES AND KEEPING THE COMMUNITY CONNECTED:
All in all, we fully understand that consistant access to food for everyone is essential; and that’s why we’re doing our absolute best to support you through this challenging time. At the end of the day, we’re a food provider that will show up for as long as we can to ensure that you can get access to the food that you need.

***As COVID-19 continues to spread, we would also like to communicate that we have ensured to review our contingency plan for all areas of our business to appropriately respond to any impact this may have on you, our customers, as well as our employees. During this time, we have asked all Schoolhouse employees to pause travel until further notice. We have also put in an infectious disease policy that prohibits employees from coming to work if they have a fever and cough.

Food safety is always and continues to be our #1 priority. Our employees are always expected to wash hands thoroughly between/after each task. They also wear gloves when making and packaging all prepared food. These are our standard practices – but we want to communicate them to you again to ensure you all understand how thorough we are in these practices.

If you have any other questions or concerns that were not addressed above, please feel free to email jen@schoolhouseglutenfreegourmet.com.

In health and happiness,
Jen, Aidan & Team Schoolhouse
