COVID-19 SAFETY MEASURES:
What additional safety measures are we putting into place as a result of COVID-19?
We wash our hands, change our gloves and clean/sanitize all surfaces after every single task. We have had these practices in place from the very beginning as an allergen-free producer, so we take cross-contamination very seriously. Your safety has always been our #1 priority. This is the Schoolhouse difference.
We have a zero tolerance sickness policy. We’ve made an agreement as a team, if a staff member is sick, staff are not allowed to come to work with any symptom of sickness. They must be 48 hours symptom-free before coming back to work. We’re doing this to ensure not only that everyone’s immunity is at 100%, but also to ultimately prevent the spread of COVID-19. Staff are taking social distancing seriously; only coming to work and staying home between shifts. We have a team of eight and everyone is closely monitoring their health. If any staff member shows signs of COVID-19, we will stop production immediately and that staff member will be tested. We will then await results before deciding to continue operations.

How does the online store/home delivery work during the pandemic?
We have been operating our online store for over a year now. Our delivery service is tried, tested and true; it works and we are confident that your package will arrive at your front door safe and sound. We have decided to keep our delivery service in-house for that reason, and by ordering directly from us, you get your products at our market price point.
That being said, we are still humans processing an order – if you notice something is wrong or are not happy with how your order is received – let us know and we will make it right.
IMPORTANT: When placing online order, it is imperative that we have a phone number that will allow us to contact you and/or the recipient of the package. Please ensure the phone number on the order is of the individual who will actually receive the package. Our delivery driver may need to contact you to let you know when they have arrived; we are doing our best to keep you and our driver safe through no contact delivery; so that we can continue to serve you.
When are online orders due and when will I get my package?
Orders are due every Monday before 3pm, those packages will arrive on Wednesday (East Coast) and by end of day Thursday (Central/West Coast). We offer a second delivery date within the HRM every Wednesday (orders due by 3pm) with packages arriving on Friday.
Can I still order a custom cake?
Yes. You most certainly can. However, please keep in mind that we will only be taking custom cake orders via an email sent directly to email@example.com
directly and payment must be made through an e-transfer. We are only able to deliver custom cakes to customers based within the HRM and on the South Shore.
Am I able to place a pre-order for pick-up?
For the time being, many of you are now aware that we will not be attending the market on the weekend. We are focusing on keeping our retail partners stocked and on shipping packages to customers via our online shop. Did you know that most of our independent retailers take pre-orders for specific items? That way, you can request them to bring in/set aside products for you. Some have also started to offer local delivery/alternative pick-up options as a means to take precautionary efforts to keep everyone safe. Please connect with your local retailer directly to inquire about options available to you. Otherwise, if you live close to the Schoolhouse, you can use our contactless pick-up point to collect your pre-order.
