Mornings can be a crazy time and even with the best effort to stay organized, a number of things can keep breakfast operations from happening. For us, maybe it’s a super early bakery shift. Or regular hours on the home front and we just can’t make breakfast because there are two tiny humans with huge demands, climbing up and down us from head to toe! Sometimes, you just need to eat something, and fast! Nothing worse than starting a day off feeling ‘cranky-hungry’. Here’s where our Power Toast recipes comes into play. A fine balance of carbs, protein, fats and vitamin C… the boost you need to hold your hunger at bay until you can find time for something more substantial.

Ingredients

  • 2-3 fresh strawberries
  • 1-2 tbsp nut butter of your choice: almond butter, peanut butter, cashew butter or wow butter.
  • 1 piece of Schoolhouse potato-millet bread or molasses seed bread
  • A pinch of chia seeds or hemp hearts

The Steps to Take

Step 1

Toast your slice of Schoolhouse Potato-Millet (or Molasses Seed) Bread.

Step 2

Slice strawberries into thin slices.

Step 3

Place toast on a plate and spread your choice of nut butter.

Step 4

Layer fresh strawberries on top of toast.

Step 5

Sprinkle with chia seeds.

Step 6

Dang! That was SO easy and satisfying—ENJOY!
